Press Release
The Executive Governor of Katsina State, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda declares the state government commitment to nurturing the potential of every child in Katsina.
The Governor adds children's welfare is not merely words but is backed by concrete actions.
Governor Radda made this assertion while congratulating girls of Katsina State on the International Day of the Girl Child. The Governor notes that this year's theme, "Girls' Vision for the Future," as designated by the United Nations, perfectly aligns with our government policies and programmes.
"Today, we celebrate not just our girls, but the future of Katsina and Nigeria," Governor Radda declared.
"Every girl child carries within her the seed of greatness, waiting to blossom.
It is our sacred duty to water these seeds with education, healthcare, and equal opportunities."
Governor Radda, recently, renovated and fully equipped skills acquisition centers in Katsina, Kaita, Funtua, and Baure, where hundreds of girls are currently being trained in various life-enriching and economically empowering skills.
"These skills not only provide our girls with the tools to be financially independent but also foster creativity, confidence, and a sense of purpose".
They are the foundation upon which these young girls can build brighter, more sustainable futures for themselves and their communities.
In 2023, 455 girls graduated from this centre, whom were supported with cash boost and empowerment kits to start up their businesses based on what they learned during their training period.
In addition to empowering girls with vocational skills, Governor Radda is equally committed to ensuring their safety and well-being. This is why he constructed a world-class Sexual Assault Referral Center (NASIHA SARC) in Katsina State.
This facility is fully equipped with all necessary resources to provide survivors of sexual and gender-based violence with the support, care, and justice they deserve.
The center offers a safe space where survivors can access medical treatment, psychosocial support, and legal assistance, all under one roof.
NASIHA SARC is a testament to Governor Radda’s unwavering resolve to protect our girls and ensure that they grow up in an environment free from violence, harassment, and exploitation.
“By safeguarding their rights and providing them with opportunities to succeed, we are giving them the foundation to pursue their dreams with confidence” - the Governor emphasized.
"When we educate a girl, we educate a nation," Governor Radda stated passionately. "Our girls are not just the leaders of tomorrow; they are the change-makers of today. Their vision for the future is our roadmap to progress."
Governor Radda joins the global community in marking this significant day, he calls on all citizens to reflect on the crucial role of girls in society and to actively participate in creating an environment where every girl can thrive.
